Quiet Study Floor Closes for Renovation

The fourth floor will close for renovation on Wednesday, February 12 at 1 AM. Study space remains available in LIB 225 and in other locations across the HSC campus. For a full list of alternative study spaces, visit https://library.unthsc.edu/reno. Please note that expectations for quiet study space in the Library cannot be met while the construction work is in progress.

Both the Food Pantry and the Reflection Room—in LIB 450—will be temporarily closed. However, the central Food Pantry location remains available (8am-5pm, Monday-Friday) in room 180 in the Student Service Center. The Reflection Room will be temporarily located in the Wellness/Respite Room in MET 209.

One University Studio

The HSC One University Studio will remain open and fully operational throughout the construction phase on the 4th floor of the Gibson D. Lewis Library. All DIY production spaces will be available; however, please be aware that construction noise may impact recording conditions.

To better support faculty and staff during this time, the Educational Media team is offering on-location production services. If noise levels interfere with your project, our team can come to your location to assist with production. We are available for consultations to determine the best approach for your specific needs and ensure your content is produced at the highest quality.

Construction continues on third Floor

The third floor is still under construction and renovation will be completed, along with the fourth floor, for a Summer 2025 reopening.

Have you noticed that the main floor space seems to be opening up, more and more, every day? The renovation team is adding bench seating around the base of the grand staircase, which will be finished soon. As the new furniture (tables, booths, chairs) arrives for installation this week, you’ll be excited to occupy space on this floor on Tuesday, February 11 (anticipated date).

In the meantime, LIB 225 continues to be available (unless otherwise scheduled for events) as a study space.

You may have also noticed that the new badge reader, at the library entrance, is now operational–with ADA-compliant functionality.

Directional signage will continue to guide you to the library service locations, as spaces might need to be closed and later re-opened due to renovation work.
