Main Floor Phase Begins

Renovations to the Gibson D. Lewis Library continue and are moving on to the next phase. The complete renovation project will occur in phases until the early summer 2025 and is part of HSC’s overall capital improvement plan to address ongoing needs for space expansion and modernization, including the incorporation of emerging technology. This also will ensure the space meets the needs of students now and into the future.

As the first-floor lower lobby renovations wrap up, work will begin on the second floor on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Visitors to the library will see furniture being removed and will hear an elevated sound level.

Due to this phase of the renovations, the following services have been moved:

  • Lewis Library Lockers (pick up library items on hold) is moving in LIB-225
  • The main floor printer will relocate to the middle floor, near the women’s restroom
  • Book Drop Box has been relocated to the middle floor, near the central stairwell
  • Seed Library (free seeds for the HSC community) has relocated to LIB-222.

Tentatively scheduled for mid-October, the main entrance to Lewis Library will relocate to a newly constructed entrance near the building’s south entrance (doors facing RES & EAD).

As library areas are closed and new entrances are created, please look for directional signs to help point the way.

Once the main entrance to the lobby and Lewis Library is closed, the most in-demand library items (including anatomical models, manipulation tables and some chargers) will be available using the self-checkout kiosk temporarily relocated to LIB-225.
