Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library serves as the designated Regional Medical Library (RML) for the Network of the National Library of Medicine Region 3 (NNLM R3).
NNLM R3 aims to advance the progress of medicine and improve public health through increased access to health information within the states of Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Emerging Leader Award – OPEN

Award: $4,000

The purpose of the Emerging Leader Award is to motivate and prepare a mid-career librarian preparing for a position of leadership in an academic health sciences library.
Leadership Pathways Award – OPEN
Funding Period: 12/01/2024 to 04/30/2025
Award: $3,000
Application Deadline: 11/25/2024 – 5:00pm CT
The purpose of the Leadership Pathways Award is to create a pathway for current early-to-mid-career librarians to explore leadership roles within the health sciences library profession. The award focuses on exploring and developing management skills with guidance from an experienced health sciences library manager recruited by NNLM Region 3.
Exhibit Award – OPEN
Funding Period: 7/15/2024 to 04/01/2025
Award Amount: $2,000
Application Deadline: Applications ongoing until 04/01/2024 or funds are expended.
The purpose of the Exhibit Award is to conduct outreach to the region through conferences or by hosting exhibits within their own institutions and to build professional capacity in support of the goals of the NNLM.
Professional Development Award – OPEN
Funding Period: 06/15/2024 to 04/01/2025
Award: $2,000
Application Deadline: April 1, 2025, 6:00 pm EDT
The purpose of the Professional Development Award is to enable individuals in Region 3 Network Member institutions to expand professional knowledge and experience to provide improved health information access to healthcare providers and consumers.
Express Health Information Outreach Award – OPEN
Funding Period: 07/01/2025 to 04/30/2026
Award: $8,000

The purpose of the Express Health Information Outreach Award is to provide support for projects that improve health information literacy and increase the ability of consumers caregivers, students, and other members of the public to find, access, and use health information.
Health Information Outreach Award – OPEN

Award: $25,000

The purpose of the Health Information Outreach Award is to ensure that healthcare professionals, patients, and the general public are introduced to authoritative health information. This award provides support for projects that improve health information literacy and increase the ability of consumers caregivers, students, and other members of the public to find and use health information.
Student Development Award – CLOSED
Funding Period: 05/24/2024 to 12/18/2024
Award: Up to $3,000: Up to $2,500 is reimbursed for expenses associated with participation in meetings – $500 is reserved for registration and other associated costs.
