The asynchronous classes are specially designed to be interactive and supplement learning within the classroom. These classes can be embedded into the curriculum or students can request access to the online learning modules.

Citation Management & EndNote

Whether researchers are attempting a project for the first time (or maybe just for the first time in a long time) or are seasoned veterans, one of the best approaches to stay organized from the beginning is having a solid plan for collecting and managing citations for research articles and other sources of information.

In this module, learners will hear more about creating a plan, best practices for organizing research, and how to use a common tool, EndNote, for citation management.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop a organizational strategy for research literature
  • Install a common citation management tool called EndNote
  • Import citations into EndNote
  • Organize the EndNote account: A personal library of research citations
  • Learn who to contact for additional assistance with organization and citation management tools
Information Retrieval and Appraisal for Clinicians

The lessons contained in this module are intended to help health professionals strengthen their ability to successfully execute an effective search strategy. The ideas presented in these modules highlight the process by which an individual might work through a research question.

Key Objectives:

  • Receive an overview of Evidence-Based Practice to support patient care
  • Apply the PICO/T framework for developing a clinical research question
  • Define and identify databases and indexing concepts
  • Construct quality searches using Boolean operators and database filtering
  • Assess and evaluate the results of a literature search for applicability and quality

The course covers building search strategies with Boolean operators, navigating databases such as PubMed, and applying filters to refine your results. Finally, we’ll introduce tools like EndNote and LibKey Nomad to help you stay organized throughout your research process.
