Self-Service Checkout

Located at the entrance of the library, the self-service area is available to affiliated students, faculty and staff to check out or check in items.

  • Items on holds are available through the Lewis Library Locker Service.
  • Wi-Fi Hotspots and Laptop Computers can be reserved in advance and/or checked-out in LIB222.

Items in the self-service checkout area are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Follow the prompts on the touch screen to process library items.

To Check Out Items

  1. Select the check out button
  2. Scan badge at attached badge reader or type EMPLID (8-digit number)
  3. Place items on the glass RFID reader (can place a stack of items, usually up to 6)
    •  Items have checked out correctly

    •  Items are not held on the reader long enough or the reader cannot see each RFID tag.  Follow prompts to move/shift the items.

    •  Item barcodes are not found or unrecognized.

  4. Print or email receipt

Help is available Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. by selecting the "Request Help" button, emailing AskALibrarian@unthsc.edu, calling (817) 735-2465, or by visiting LIB222.
