UNTHSC alumni can apply for a guest membership free of charge. The membership will need to be renewed on an annual basis. A valid driver’s license or state-issued ID is required.

For guests who have obtained a TexShare card from a participating Texas Library, membership with Lewis Library is free of charge. Please bring your photo ID and TexShare card from your local public library or from your college/university library if you are a student, staff, or faculty member at a participating Texas Institution.
TexShare is a program of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in partnership with academic and public libraries in Texas. A TexShare card can be used at participating libraries to check out materials for research and study needs.
If you are not an HSC Alumni, Retiree, or do not have a TexShare card, you can apply for an individual guest membership. Guests are members of the general public not affiliated with The University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth.
Guest users interested in access to Lewis Library and its resources for a business need are asked to purchase an annual membership at the business level. Business is defined as a for-profit entity.
There are a variety of options on campus for parking including day and month passes and metered parking. Lewis Library is located near public transportation with a bus stop for the Route 2 and Dash on Trinity Metro. When you visit, please wear your badge, which is also your library card. It is needed to enter the building, checkout materials at the Self-Service Checkout Area, and as a form of identification while on campus.
Inside the building, we offers a variety of collaborative and quiet study spaces for our guests.
Library guests should plan to bring a laptop if a computer will be needed during your visit, but we do offer a number of charging cables and other accessories in the Self-Checkout Area.
HSC offers a Guest Wifi network, where library resources will be accessed. Guests will also have the option to checkout a variety of cables for enhanced connectivity.
Guests are allowed to borrow up to 10 items from the Self-Service Checkout Area. For a full list of loanable items, load periods & overdue fines, visit Loan Periods and Fines.
Lewis Library offers additional services including, but not limited to, citation verification and literature searches for an additional fee. A list of services can be found on Fees for Services.

In the event you misplace your card, a new one can be requested for a $25 replacement fee. Contact AskALibrarian@unthsc.edu or call 817-735-2465 to request a new guest membership card.
Guest access to the library building and its resources is limited to the card holder only. Should other members of a group or family desire access for study or research, a separate application for membership should be completed. Guest members must be 18 years of age or older.
If you receive an error message that states “The Barcode Number or User ID was not found in the library management system as entered”, please contact a library staff member for assistance.
For building badge access issues, contact the HSC Campus Police Department and let them know you are having issues with your membership badge. The non-emergency number for Campus Police is 817-735-2210.
Unfortunately, Lewis Library does not offer guest printing services at this time. Lewis Library staff would be happy to assist in locating the nearest options in printing.
No. Access to UNTHSC Archives must be arranged by appointment. To access collection materials contact libraryarchives@unthsc.edu to schedule an appointment.
Lewis Library rooms for guests are available on a first come, first served basis, and are limited to individual study rooms. Reservable group rooms are not available for guests.
